A 13-year-old male from Lakes of the Four Seasons is expected to be charged with battery after allegedly hitting two other young teens with a belt.

Lake Superior Court Judge Salvador Vasquez increased the bail for a Lakes of the Four Seasons man charged with reckless homicide, criminal recklessness and other charges from a March 6 hit-and-run crash that killed a Lake County Corrections officer.

A northwest Indiana man already accused of a hit-and-run that killed a Lake County correctional officer and injured three others was charged with four more felonies Tuesday.

The corrections officer killed in a hit and run crash in Crown Point, Indiana will be laid to rest Monday.

Local officials now have the first set of uniform numbers to use in ongoing discussions about a plan to create a unified, full-time fire department for the Winfield and Lakes of the Four Seasons areas.
