the only question about people like this, is everything real, if not its just a show for plastic surgery and I'll pass on that. I'd reather see a beautiful person just the way they were made not enhanced.

What is more ridiculous than a beauty pageant? And this women started when she was a mere child....at what point does she grow up?

"A beautiful dress and sparkly shoes. Who wouldn't want to do that"

Not even close to being on my list of the top 100 things I would want. If this woman needs beauty pageants to secure who she is, so be it. Some of us prefer to get thru life using our brains instead of trying to advance using looks.

I can remember my mother always trying to get me to enter the Little Miss America contest. Not in a million years...

How dare you people make such rude comments about someone that you do not even know. I think it is very clear by her comments that she is a down to earth person that does not fit the typical "beauty pageant" stereotype. You should all be so lucky to have a role model like her for your children. As the article states, she would not have entered the beauty pageant had it not been for her late grandmother. It is something that she did for someone else out of selflessness, there is nothing fake about that!

And that is your opinion and unlike you, I won't castigate you for such an opinion.

There are plenty of folks in the world who can move ahead with their business ideas without a beauty pageant. And no matter how you twist it, it is still a beauty pageant and there are a lot of folks who don't care for them, for many reasons.

This article focuses a lot on her appearance and her shoes and walking and dresses...which have nothing to do with her cause and everything to do with the superficial nonsense of beauty pageants.

And that is my opinion. If you don't care for it, then don't concern yourself.

And one more thing, had this been me I would have asked the person writing the article to focus on my cause and leave out my weight, my hourglass figure, my husband, and my glass slippers. And I sure as heck wouldn't have made the generalization about 'a beautiful dress and sparkling shoes'...all that's missing is a line about world peace.

I am impressed with this woman, she using the title to do something GOOD. We always hear the negative about pageants and it is nice to hear something positive for once. I wish I had the guts to try something like that! I applaud this woman for following her dreams and hope she does well at Mrs. America. Nice article.

You want to promote Minnesota ? Well do it but not with such phony stuff as MRS Minnesota. Learn two or three other languages and go after the promotions. Learn German and your choice to speak to China. Now what product or service do you have in mind ? Or vacation stuff ? Fishing ? snow mobiles ? Food products ? electronics ? what you name find out how things have gone with it already. How about if you get in line with our Pres Obama and get jobs back to Minnesota ? Re start Pan auto in St Cloud and make it like the Smart Car. Make TV sets again in Mpls, make firetrucks in LuVerne, make tractors on Lake Street, make cranes/hoists on South Robert, pack some meat in South St Paul, make tools in Duluth these all were jobs here once, bring em back. Plus whole lots more. Use your brains to do that and your nice looks help.

"Hall said she was shocked to learn that she had won dozens of prizes along with her Mrs. Minnesota title, including $5,000 in cosmetic surgery, a $2,500 scholarship to the Minnesota School of Business/Globe University and a $1,500 scholarship to Premiere School of Self-Improvement and Professional Modeling"

-$5,000 in cosmetic surgery..........Probably Bigger Boppers!

-$2,500 scholarship to the Minnesota School of Business/Globe University........A waste of her time........Trade for a tutor instead!

-$1,500 scholarship to Premiere School of Self-Improvement and Professional Modeling..........Keep the Money and watch Amerca's Next Top Model instead for free advice!

Great rewards for a representative to younger girls and the state of Minnesota!

I find it almost unbelievable that one of the prizes would be cosmetic surgery. I would personally be insulted at such a prize - what kind of example for young girls does this set? That one needs cosmetic surgery to be better. Egads, I would give this back before I would ever consider that going thru that crap.

Make do with what you were born with - no one is impressed with fake people. Nor does it say anything about you other than looks are your priority.

"Shocked to learn?" yeah right, that response is as fake as this woman and this whole story.

...just like I am sure YOU have gotten off your duff, turned off your computer where you spend hours passing judgement on others, and have done all of those things you mentioned! RIGHT! It is a PAGEANT for Pete's sake! Lighten up. The woman is trying to bring some attention to a worthy cause. Instead of placing the problems on our state on her shoulders, why don't you applaud the fact that she is trying to do something with the crown other than to just be a pretty face and ride in parades? I am so tired of people bitching about things and then when someone tries to do something good, they bitch about that, too! Be the change yourself instead of putting it on someone else!

Daily Horoscope for December 22

Virgo

Be careful you don't wind up doing someone else's work today, Virgo. There are all sorts of little tricks to persuade you to take pity on them, from pretending to be ill to making such a hash of everything that you can't bear to watch for a moment longer. Then you are likely to be asked to put in some overtime, at the expense of your social life. Grr.
