The new policies are completely inadequate. The policy should be to NEVER leave an animal (or human) in a secured vehicle for any length of time.(If the air is running, then the vehicle is usually running. If the vehicle is not running, then the air temp blowing from the A/C is less than cool.) Secondly, why should a police cruiser, or any vehicle, be left running and unattended for 3 hours? I thought an unattended, running vehicle was against the law? This situation is deplorable. Imagine what the police canine went through at the bitter end. There is not excuse for this negligence.

If you are so ignorant that you need to have it written in a policy not to murder the K-9 officers then there is something very very wrong and you should certianly not be in possession of a fire arm or a taxpayer funded car. Not everything that a person does or is supposed to do is written down. Only a moron would give that EXCUSE. This will forever damage the willingness of the public to cooperate in any shape or fashion with that department. Kiss any fundraising efforts bu-bye.
This woman needs to be charged with murdering that poor dog. I get sick to my stomach thinking about how that poor thing suffered.
