Ex-Lake Villa man guilty of recklessly shooting neighbor
A former Lake Villa Township man was found guilty Monday of recklessly shooting a neighbor while showing off his handguns last year, but he avoided conviction on a more serious charge that could have put him behind bars for up to 30 years. The Lakes Community High School homecoming parade will start at 10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 14. Set up will begin at 8:30 a.m. Floats will line up near Kelsey Court across from McDonald Woods Forest Preserve and proceed south on Beck Road and will end just before Sand Lake Road at B.J. Hooper Elementary School in Lindenhurst.

Traffic concern near Lake Villa school
Lake Villa Elementary District 41's superintendent said she intends to approach village police after receiving a complaint about speeding traffic near a school. Superintendent Lynette Zimmer said a Lake Villa resident conveyed the traffic concerns to her about parents and bus drivers bringing students to Olive C. Martin Elementary School on Dering Lane.
