Tax caps bottle up Gary's school budget
A perfect storm of shrinking enrollment, low tax collections and strangling tax caps are taking a heavy toll on the Gary Community School Corp. Data from the Indiana Department of Government Finance shows the Gary school district lost more money to the caps than any district in the state: $13 million last year.
