Scratch-off rewards cash is not what it appears

Go to their little sales pitch, bt make sure you didn't shower for a fay or two and eat a bunch of garlic, make them earn their money

The world is full of C students.

We got one of those from a car dealer in Nazareth a few years ago saying we won 1,000.00. The catch they gave you a catalog to pick items from. The other catch you had to pay shipping and handling and the stuff was all tolled worth about 10.00.

I don't understand why these type of things are a story every week. Are there really this many people confused about this type of "advertising?" My 7 year old can read and understand those postcards.

The secret to getting out of a timeshare presentation quickly so you can get your free stuff in as little time as possible:

Research the place beforehand, and search for resales.

With timeshares, resales are ALWAYS much cheaper than buying directly from the resort. Also, any "bonuses" like points, timeshare membership programs, etc. are associated with the unit, not with the sale, so when you buy a resale you get everything that the resort would have sold you, just for a lot less.

So, go to the presentation with a printout, or even just written notes, about the cheapest resales of that particular resort timeshare. When they get to the point where they try to sell you the thing, just ask them if they can beat the prices you found. They won't and can't. If they try to pull crap about needing lawyers or agents, just say your <insert family member of choice here> is one and they'd do it for free.

They'll let you go. They'll know you aren't gullible and won't buy.

So far, it's worked every single time. They don't bother trying to show you cheaper stuff (e.g. every-other-years, half units, etc.), they just stop with the first pitch and give you your freebies.

Oh, and if you actually want to buy a timeshare, buy in a desirable location like Maui or Vegas, and only buy one with low maintenance fees.

I called the number and got my cash rewards card "just for calling." The card is for a website that guarantee's the lowest price all just about anything and everything you could ever buy at any store. On top of the lowest guaranteed price the site actually gives you an additional cash rewards discount which is quite substantial. The cash rewards discount comes off of your $500 cash rewards balance. I have already saved hundreds of dollars on items I would have bought at the store anyway. I found the article by Mr. darragh misleading and offensive. Does Mr. Darragh understand that he may be hurting another AMERICAN business in an economy that is already volatile. But then again he works for the media so he has probably already sold his soul to the devil and bought it back and resold it at least a hundred times. Mr. Darragh should actually properly research something before putting it in the newspaper, but I guess that would invovle an ounce of integrity which he obviously doesn't have.

I have personally toured Split Rock many times. Each and every one of those times I've received the items they promised. I've always had a good experience there. Honestly the food gift cards are always the best award, but i've never had a problem using any of the awards including the cash rewards. You may have to spend some money, but you save much more than you spend. It's ridiculous that people can be so petty about things like this. You get things JUST FOR YOUR TIME!!! What do you people not understand? And whoever "you are so right NOT" is, who the hell are you to comment on someone's credibilty? That statement alone takes away your credibilty.

Anybody that has the time to waste to take one of these tours and is happy with the few trinkets they give you in return, must either be a welfare leach or some unemployed bum, that has all the time in the world to waste. So that person would have no credibility of their own, much less enough to tell somebody else, that they have none. If Mr. Reality had a brain at all, he'd realize you have to make a certain income to even be qualified to do this. Also if you want to speak of someone else's credibility, you might want to check your own grammer first!
