I have to wonder which council member lives in that area and wanted this, what about aggressive dogs? I've been bitten by someone elses dog, it is not fun!

Actually none of them live near there, which is probably why none of them could give two hoots as to whether the kids get a mouthful of Lassie poop with their diving baseball catch.

I'm not against dogs or dog owners it's just that we have used that feild for baseball for years and you are right about the poo, cause not all dog owners are responsible. For some people I'm afraid it will just be an area besides thier yard for fido to poo.

You should visit the "dog park." The people are great and everyone has cleaned up after their dog when I've been there. People and their dogs have used this field for several years now. You're making a mountain out of a mole hill. Don't be such a sour puss - no pun intended :)

I agree with good girl! It's not a big deal at all. And a lot of the baseball players come there with their dogs in the mornings! You should go visit before you judge. There will always be those people that don't pick up after their dogs unfortunatly. It's really nice to see a group of people stepping up and cleaning up after not only their own dogs but getting what is left behind by others so the kids don't get unpleasant suprises. Why is everyone so cynical? Lighten up folks! It really is possible for people to compromise and work together.

May the 3 mo. trial run promote positive reaction from the community and give responsible animal owners and their dogs the joy and health benefits of fresh air and exercise. I'm certain there are also 'doggie bag stations' provided for there to be no excuses on the poo-poo pick up, right?

So because every now and then a dog owner, won't pick up after dog, dogs shouldn't be able to be in the park...

So if we all were so close minded also, should parents that ignore their children making HUGE messes in store, be told that theire kids shouldnt be there?

yes!! If it were my business(and we have had one)and children were out of control with irresponsible parent, yes I would ask them nicely to leave. I have two very young children, and if my kids are disruptive,I'm the first one to say "Let's go!" It's the attitude like yours that fuels the "ME" "ME" "ME" concept.People need to learn that it is a privalage, not a right to shop in a business or use public facilities, especially if you abuse them(hence the sign "We reserve the right to refuse service"

WOW! JustKim, did somebody wake up on the wrong side of the bed on Sunday or simply not able to grasp the message of responsibility? Woman up and educate yourself accordingly and you will do a great service in leading the next generation on the right path and be a better role model. Good Luck!

The dog owners at McVicker are taking a more peaceful approach and simply picking up after the owners that fail to do so, rather than getting in a confrontation and asking them to "nicely" leave the park. Rarely does this type of request get met with civility. Sometimes the negligent owners get the hint, sometimes they don't. But it avoids tension and allows the dogs to continue playing, since that's what it's all about.

It's unfortunate to hear some shy from choosing to be responsible but you cannot make 'em do right so why get your blood pressure up when you and your dog should be enjoying the park instead? There are always a few that will never follow any rules but don't let it rain on your dog park days!
