The cop is not the bad guy, the criminal who committed the crime is the real idiot. Bravo to the off duty cop.

Here we go again.....criminals family member "trying" to justify the crime...Don't they know there are consequenses to every crime committed...what are we supposed to do, let them commit their crimes...let this be a lesson for all who think there is nothing wrong with stealing someones purse. He obviously did not think he was going to be caught...thank God for the off duty officer...wish there be more of them in uptown Whittier.

Who cares who the person is that shot the thief. You just dont pull a gun on someone, period. The real victim here is the retired cop, who just happened to have a pistol on his person and DEFENDED himself.

In this 30 something yr old MAN pulls out a "replica" gun.... come on, what he thought he could pull this out and everyone would know that it was not real. I feel for the family losing a member, but come on, he was 30 something he should have known better.

The guy had a gun. What do you expect, someone produces a handgun, and they expect not to get shot at. Thanks Retired Deputy for getting one more criminal off of our streets.

A husband protects his wife from actual or potential danger. Why did this retired police officer become involved in a dangerous situation with his wife sitting next to him in his vehicle?

I suppose you folks who choose to judge a person who did a lawful, but unviolent act, should be shot. So if you j-walk a ex cop pulls your peckerwood ass over you go to turn your ipod off, he thinks your reaching for a gun & blows your neck off,& this is suppose to be ok, well maybe in the white world, this old f*$# probably has a history of shooting mexicans, & he probably voted for bush also. People like you is why this countries veiws are f*$#ed up, so shut up sit your square ass down finish watching wheel-a-fortune.
* rest in peace cuz *

The moral to the story is: Never bring a toy gun to a real gun fight. Bravo to the retired deputy, my hero. To the family member who says the cop "murdered" his nephew; go chase another ambulance. Jr. is worm meal, he brought it ALL on himself.

I looked up murder. It is the unlawful taking of a life.

If you pull a gun on anybody you are going to be killed. It does not matter what petty crime drew attention to yourself.

EVERY peace officer deserves to be safe at home after every shift.

The retired officer did what he was suppoded to do. It is a better place because of people like him.

So you're threatening with VIOLENCE? Must run in the family, cuz.

By the way, your piece of sheet "cousin" was a loser thug who beat and robbed the wrong woman at the wrong time. He got what he deserved and now there will be no more victims of his violent and criminal actions. Rot in hell, loser.

HE DIDNT NOT DIE RIGHT AWAY... He was shot to pieces and the retired officer took his wife on this chase with a suspect who he thought was armed. So much for his wife's safety. What if the gun had been real and he shot back? They were in a dead end of a parking structure. He had already called 911 with all the info and he wasn't 100 % sure he was after the right people. According to neighbors, 8-10 shots were fired. When his family see's his wounds they will know the overkill the officer displayed. What time did he actually die from the time he was shot? The crime was wrong, we all know that, but this shoot first, vigilante, type shooting from officers lately are out of hand. As they say, 2 wrongs.....never make it right, even for police.

and this wasnt his first crime. ayyy mamacita have you heard the term 'career criminal'

as real at it is, bottom line here is, we have a retired cop chasing felons rather than detaining at gun point at some aspect and allowing law enforcement to do the job, but he over steps the line by going into a pursuit, and what had someone been killed during this pursuit as well?? unfortunately did not happen; it's more like this cop is retarded, than retired; needs to answer for what happen, this is not procedure on off-as well as retired cops; CHECK OUT the paper work as rules and regulations/ no doubt that there will be a lawsuit followed by this/ from a purse snatch to a killing and then to riches?? and others to poverty only in America

Daily Horoscope for December 27

Capricorn

You'll have a fabulous time if you're longing to see what's on offer in the sales, especially if you want to buy yourself some new clothes or cosmetics. However, you won't pay much attention to how much you're spending, and may even deliberately avoid thinking about it. Do yourself a favor and don't go overboard if you can't afford it.
