Farmington, needs to put in a service center to dump all year, not just two week ends. They would save lots of money on cleaning up the washes. Oh, I know some will go there even if you would come after junk and haul it for them. Some just like it that way of doing wrong. Farmington needs one IN the city not out side the city. The dump will not take washers or dryers,TVs ect. we need a place to take them too. Don't ask for a light bill, just thank them for coming and dumping in the right place.

I believe that option was discussed at some point in the past - a transfer station. This probably comes down to a matter of cost. We can argue the cost of illegal dumping on the environment and our image to visitors, but those are not quantifiable costs. The cost of installing and staffing transfer stations would probably (and this is just my guess) cause garbage bills to go up. That may be OK with some, but I remember the hissy fit everybody threw when their bills were raised a tiny bit to implement a recycling program because people couldn't take 15 mintues to drive their recyclable materials to the recycle center.

Truely - it only takes 15 to 20 minutes in non-rush-hour traffic to drive completely across the city. If a person can't spare a half an hour to take their garbage to the dump, they don't have time take it to a transfer station and save 10 minutes. Those who dump illegally are just plain lazy.
