He was a member of Cave Springs General Baptist Church. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean conflict, Crittenden County Trial Commissioner, Commonwealth Insurance Agent, Marion Police dispatcher and part-time Marion Police officer and sheriff's deputy.

Freda Adeline Ross Black, 94, of Paducah, Ky., passed away at 3:17 p.m. Tuesday, December 6, 2011, at the Hosparus Inpatient Care Center in Louisville, Ky.

Benton police charged Randy L. Prather, 40, of Kirksey with first-degree wanton endangerment after his Ford Explorer careened out of control through an intersection and through the front door of a Subway just after 11 a.m. Wednesday.
