For a woman of 77 years, Jean Haigh scoots up mountains with astonishing speed. Leaning into her trekking poles, she takes short, quick steps as she scurries along the trail with the grace and precision of an insect.

Longtime incumbent E. Suzanne McAuliffe lost her seat on the Yarmouth Board of Selectmen in Tuesday's town election, ending an era for the town.

This summer, the town will be hosting three major cycling events: The Killington Stage Race, The Long Trail Century Ride, and a multiday noncompetitive event called the Vermont Challenge.

Killington residents voted Monday night to keep the form of town government as it is.

The proposal before voters would have gotten rid of the town manager position. Instead, three selectmen, the town constable, and the town treasurer would have run day-to-day operations.
