From the quiet shores of Kelleys Island, to the entertainment hub of Put-in-Bay and close encounters of an animal kind on Catawba, the sights and sounds of the Lake Erie Islands are a feast for the senses.

Two northwest Ohio airports were among 16 in the state that will share in more than $4.6 million in federal funding to make improvements at their facilities.

Today the stop in the road trip for Bike Week Ohio is in Kelleys Island. Kelleys is receiving today hundreds of motorcycles that are going to tour the island on a Poker Run organize for them.

         This morning around 10 AM we start seeing big groups of motorcycle getting into the Kelleys Island. They first stop it was a Bag the Moon where they pick up the programs for the day.

         After that every run to get to the Kelleys Island Brewery were a few spend some time doing beer testing. The next stop it was West Bay Inn, were most of them stop to get something to eat. It seams that tonight a lot of them are going to get together here to watch the sunset. The West Bay Inn is the best spot in the island to appreciate the sunset.

         They keep around the island stopping at the Glacial Grooves and then at the Caddy Shack Square. The Poker Run has total 11 stops: Kelleys Island Wine, The Village Pump, The Casino and Dockers, etc.

Price gas is already changing the way people are planning their vacations. Different reports are showing for this summer season, that families will go “local” to spend their holidays. We are not seeing any low prices gas in the near future.

Tour operators are going to start changing they marketing strategy from global to local audience. Local restaurant owner and small town are going to start seeing the benefits of getting more “local tourist” or regional tourist walking through their doors.

The Midwestern United States residents used to travel to the east coast or west coast. This summer we are going to see a lot of those resident traveling to the north coast to enjoy their family vacations.

Cities like Sandusky, Cleveland and the islands on the Lake Erie are going to be the main destination for a lot of American this summer.

This year Kelleys Island opened the Welcome Center. It is located at the Caddy Shack Square. The Welcome Center will provide information as a concierge service for visitors.

Kelleys Island attracts a lot of families with their kids and visitor from big cities such as New York; people who are looking to escape for a few days from the accelerated world.

Kelleys Island has nice B&Bs, a few boutiques shops carrying brands such as Columbia, Riders and Sanuk Footwear. Sanuk Footwear got the Footwear Plus award, which is based on votes from footwear retailer. Footwear Plus covers every major brand from Nike to Prada.

This island is becoming an upscale spot in the area. Last year they hosted the Film Festival that brought new visitor to the Lake Erie area.

Lake Erie has a lot of room to grow; we hope in the near future to see more cruise companies providing tours through this beautiful part of the country.

Today we have 1 billion of the world population producing “stuff” to the rest of the world. Mmm? Let me re-phrase that: “ producing “stuff” to the east European markets, USA, Canada and I would said Australia.

This balance between high production in one end and high consumption at the other end works pretty well in economics. But my question here is “this type of system works, for the natural behaved of humans and the World as a planet?

I don’t know the answer to that question but I have some data that I think is proving it doesn’t work. USA has high indices of suicides and still racing. Depression pills are being sale as milk in developed countries. At the other side of the balance a guy working in a factory only takes 10 minutes to eat in shift that goes for more than 10 hours, and then he doesn’t have the right to choose how many children he wants to have. Let’s build more factory and make this guy happy is not the answer.

My idea is to change exchange process, (getting & producing stuff), to a new exchange process of “discover and learn”.

Here I show you how as a developed countries can still contributing with millions of dollars to producer countries.

Instead of getting a T car lets take our holidays in Asia and spend $20 thousands dollars having fun over there. Think with that kind of money you can stay in Asia very comfortable for around 3 month learning that wonderful culture.
