2012-02-10 07:01 PM. Robbery on GIBBS LANE, London, KY

Home Invasion Sheriff John Root is reporting that Laurel Sheriff’s Detective Daryl Zanet assisted by Detective Sgt Tommy Johnston are conducting an investigation into an apparent home invasion which occurred on Gibbs Lane, 8 miles west of London on (2-10-2012) at approx 7:01 P.M. Apparently, a lone male subject wearing a full face mask reportedly armed with a shotgun attempted a home invasion on a man and his wife.(they are identified as: Donald and Brenda Roark of Laurel Lake North) The suspect knocked on the door of the residence, and when the victims opened the door , he pointed a weapon at them.. The female victim struggled with the suspect in the doorway. The male victim was able to retrieve a shotgun, pointing it at the suspect and was able to chase the suspect away, and notify Laurel Dispatch who notified the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office. Laurel Sheriff’s Sgt Greg Poynter, Deputy Robbie Grimes, and Deputy Steve Hoskins responded to the emergency call for help. Following an investigation by Laurel County Sheriff’s Office Detectives and Deputies, a lead developed resulting in a suspect being identified (who lived about 4 miles away). Lt Rodney Van Zant, the Special Response Unit Commander for Laurel Sheriff’s Office, was notified, and he responded to the scene and coordinated the search and apprehension of the suspect. Taken into custody without incident on Earl Howard Road at 9:23 P.M. was Finley Earl Hall age 32 of Earl Howard Road., Keavy, Ky. It has been determined by investigation that the suspect was on home incarceration wearing an ankle bracelet when he apparently drove a 4 wheeler and parked it near the scene of the robbery. The suspect apparently wrecked the 4 wheeler on the way back to his house after the attempted robbery, burned the mask he wore, and returned to his own house. (where he stayed with his parents.) Recovered at the residence was a jacket and boots reportedly worn during the attempted robbery. The suspect was arrested and charged with: Robbery 1st Degree and was transported to St Joseph Hospital London for treatment of a hand and chest injury, and will be lodged in the Laurel County Detention Facility. Note:** the suspect was on home incarceration for four counts of Assault 4th Degree. He has numerous felony convictions.
