County Council District 7 has another candidate as Dru Kanuha enters the race
Lifetime Hawaii Island resident Dru Mamo Kanuha has announced he will run for the newly-created County Council District 7, representing downtown Kailua Village and the Kona area from roughly Kainaliu north to Kona's Old Airport.

Prostitution sting nets 5 suspects
Five Big Island men were arrested and charged for allegedly soliciting prostitution in a sting operation earlier this week in Kailua-Kona. They are: Dennis Fontany, 68, of Kailua-Kona; Taavili Tapu Taylor, 44, of Waikoloa; Christopher John Chipley, 38, of Kailua-Kona; Jason L. Hickman, 32, of Kealakekua; and Vincent Daniel Rice, 49, of Hilo.
Fire burns old Kona Bakery building in Kealakekua
Fire investigators are trying to determine the cause of a fire that burned the former Kona Bakery building in Kealakekua Sunday night.
A health fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Kona Seventh-day Adventist Church in Captain Cook.
