U.S. Postal Service to keep several rural Pittsburgh-area post offices open
The U.S. Postal Service announced today a plan to keep several of the nation's rural post offices open, albeit with shorter hours.
First-day bear harvest ranks second -
Pennsylvania Game Commission officials today announced that hunters started the 2011 black bear season by taking a preliminary harvest of 1,936 black bears in 52 counties on the first day of the four-day statewide bear season, which was the second season to open on a Saturday.

May 20 -- Pennsylvania expects a plan to address an estimated 77,000 tons of industrial waste dumped in an old strip mine will cost about $1.85 million.
