KC in running for Bombardier plant
“We would suddenly be major players in the aviation industry. Because of the importance of this deal, it would draw not only national attention but international attention.”
Kansas City, Mo., is a leading contender for a $375 million passenger jet assembly plant being considered for the United States by Montreal-based Bombardier Aerospace, local development officials say.
The potential plant, which would employ up to 2,100 people when fully operational, would be one of the largest new manufacturing projects in recent Kansas City history. It would dwarf the $86 million Harley-Davidson assembly plant deal of 10 years ago -- should Kansas City land the plane.
'This would be a game-changer for Kansas City,' said Bob Marcusse, president of the Kansas City Economic Development Council. Read more

I lay odds that Canada will get this plant, and that they are using KCI as leverage to lower the Canadian demands.
It would be good for the KC, MO economy if it did materialize. |
