Waskom In Brief: PD steps up holiday enforcement

Chief Rex Hawsey with the Waskom Police Department said the officers will be stepping up enforcement because the holiday season between Christmas and New Years are very busy with all the shoppers and traveling public on the highways.

Waskom VFD thanks community for supporting annual fund-raiser

Thanks to the support from area businesses, individuals, and community groups, the Waskom Volunteer Fire Department had a successful fund-raiser. Jack Dillard did his usual wonderful job as auctioneer and the Waskom High School Cafeteria was made available for the annual event.

Waskom Briefs: Basic Computer Class is offered

A basic computer class will be offered to the public at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 17. Waskom volunteer firefighter/EMT Bob Rodocker gets a participant to sign a waiver at the Ark-La-Tex Oilmen's Shootout held in Jonesville August 6-8. Firefighter/EMT Walter Butler also helped at the registration table.
