The metro-east's roads and highways are due to receive some major makeovers in the months ahead, thanks to the Illinois Department of Transportation.
The biggest, and most expensive project, is set to take place this summer in Cahokia, with the relocation of Illinois 157.
The $12 million project will move the four-lane artery west between Illinois 3 and Interstate 255, said Jeff Church, IDOT District 8 project implementation engineer.
Expect some traffic hassles during the relocation, including lane restrictions, but Illinois 157 will remain open to vehicle traffic, Church said. Read more
