When is the Mayor's trial? I sure want to go to it and see how many years in prison he gets! Supposed to be in July, but it's August and he is still sitting on the tailgate of his truck watching the world go by. I guess he considers that work.

Powers that be:
Hurry up and get the man out of office and close Turrell down for good!

Old Resident of Turrell,

You kind of have me stumped. If you are in fact an OLD resident then how do you know what that idiot is doing?

But if you are still in fact a resident why are wishing for Turrell to shut down?

See, if Turrell was to shut down every property located in the city wouldn't be worth nothing because you would not have running water, no one cleaning out WHAT LITTLE BIT of sewer actually drains which would make the smell so bad you wouldn't want to live by the treatment plant and the grant money HUD gave the city for all them homes would be lost because every cent of grant money used to run the city would be gone.

Ya know I am a Yankee and the longer I live down here I am becoming more and more convinced that not a person in the south has a lick of common sense.

To be honest with you and every other person who reads this what you need is someone in office who knows people in the right places who can get things done.

Yeah know, I brought up to the mayor and some of them folks in the city counsel about the grant money that was coming available that the city could have been awarded to build the city up, bring in businesses, fix up existing homes, build parks and bring in jobs that the people need. No one I told listened nor sent the paper work that needed to be filled out BY ONE city council member or the mayor himself and tonight I read on the internet how west Memphis was just awarded $435,055 which is only 2% of the money the state of Arkansas was granted. Arkansas has $20,346,252.00 to split between each incorporated city in Arkansas and the smaller urban undeveloped city get bigger chunks of that money than do bigger cities who already have businesses in place.

Now keep in mind, it only takes 1 alderman, mayor or city clerk to fill this paper work out BUT NOT 1 person I gave the application too has submitted it. SO, with me giving it to the mayor and 2 of your council members I will assume not everything is the current mayors fault. I feel everyone in your city government is failing you.

Then the other night I was up at the citgo and someone asked me why I think I can do a better job than someone else who may or may not run for mayor and my answer was simple. If someone else could do it, it would have been done by now. The Mayor does not have all of the power in a city, the city council does because they are the ones who appropriate the money and have a majority vote over the mayor.

Turrell however still has a chance to get their fair share of the grant money however the deadline to have the paperwork filled out is in January. The sad thing is I have the paper work filled out and ready to sign however I am not in a position to sign it because I am not a alderman, mayor or city clerk so I cannot sign it. BUT if elected I can have it in and approved within the cut off date.

Also, I have one other question for you.

Instead of sitting on the Internet, complaining about how things are and wanting the city to fail are you going to be willing to get off your azz if I am elected and come to the town hall meetings I am wanting to start and physically come out and help clean this city up so that your property will be worth something more than nothing?

Or are you one of them people who just sit around, complain and post on the internet how retarded "Which I am not disagreeing with" people are who is running the city?

I am only one man and without the backing of the citizens it will take me longer to get things done than if people actually came out, offered input and suggestions and actually had a hand in getting things done.

Yes I have been here since 1945. It was a wonderful little City then. Was not till the 60's when the interstate highway by passed Turrell, that the downfall begain.

Property values...ha ha. I could not sell my property for what I paid for it in the 40's! NO ONE wants to move to Turrell with no fire dept., no police dept, and NO school (now).

By the way it's those people, not them people.

Show a little more of your education and try not to sound like a fool blowing his own horn by bragging on how you are going to become Mayor.

Thanks for your intellenge by telling me to get off my AZZ!
Chances are you won't get a vote. And if by some crazy chance your are elected Mayor. Good Luck! Your going to need it!

Well I believe I will get a few votes but the more I can prove to people that I can do what I promise and show them that their are people out here who are honest and keep their word then I believe I can win it.

Like I said the money is their, every year grant money is allocated to states for example the urban development grants to improve local communities through economic development, public infrastructure investments and rehabilitation of buildings and neighborhoods for urban communities such as Turrell has a shot of obtaining their fair share of the $22,346,252.00 in money that U.S. senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor and U.S. Representatives Marion Berry, Vic Snyder ad Mike Ross fought long and hard to obtain from the Federal Government so that small communities such as Turrell can obtain so that they can build.

This grant in its self works like this. Turrell in it's self cannot provide for it's self because it does not have enough economic income such as businesses. This grant gives the city money for promoting economic development, rehabilitates public and private buildings and improves public facilities such as streets, water and sewer facilities, neighborhoods and recreation centers for our youth.

NOW, The AEDC distributes funds to cities and this money MUST CREATE or retain JOBS, the law says that at least 51 percent of all of those jobs created MUST GO TO persons of low and moderate income within those Cities. So what this in fact means if I have a business move into Turrell that creates 2,000 jobs, 1,100 people will be employed because those businesses cannot hire out side of the city UNTIL 51% has been filled by Turrell residents.

So lets think about this. Lets just say that this business moves in and offers 2,000 jobs however they only have 200 residents apply. 1,100 people are guaranteed a job paying 12.00 an hour. Don't you think at this point a developer will say "HEY we need to build housing because we got a flood of people moving to that area and they are guaranteed jobs and money" so now we have new housing coming into town

When more people relocate to an area then you have more businesses looking to move to that location such as Wal-Mart, McDonalds, burger kings and so on NOW we need more people to move to Turrell to fill them jobs and this is how this grant will work.

So now that that was explained I will continue with the rest of your message.

I am not tooting my own horn but I have had several residents contact me and would like me to run because they seen how I turned the Police Department around and got it running like it should.

Now i wish to say this and I will close.

I'm going to state today what I stated lastnight.

If any of them folks that you have voted for in the past had the knowledge to find and file for grants, economic development or had the know how to obtain the help of one of Memphis’s largest development companies to come out and do a working assessment to bring in business. Don't you think this would have been done 6 years ago when Arkansas had this same economic grant open? The only cities I seen even apply and get the money was Marion, Clarksville and West Memphis. Those were the only 3 Crittenden county towns I have seen use that money to develop and while they are getting bigger and offering their community more Turrell is only getting the overflow of crime they are pushing out of their Cities.

I honestly don't want to run for Mayor but unless I do give it a shot and get in I don't see Turrell moving forward and I see this city only going under and the citizens who do live their suffering.

At my regular job I make 4 times as much as the Mayor position pays however if elected I'll put in 200% more work than any person you have elected currently and under my leadership the arguing will stop and the citizens will obtain the quality of life they have worked there whole life for and you will see your property level will rise.

I am also very intelligent however because I was in the military I have a stop whining and if it's broke then go fix it attitude.

Also I forgot to mention to you my first plan of action if Elected will be to have a orginized fire department and full-time police department.

Also if elected I'll have the new water tower put up the Turrell should have got last year.

Also Turrell has a chance to get the school back incase you didn't know it, you have 2 years to obtain the amount of students needed to re-open the school and the citizens just sign the state petition.

Just an update,
It is 10:41am and I just got off the phone with one of the people who has been helping me come up with a plan to get Turrell back on track.
He has been in contact with several investment companies he has worked with in Memphis for several years and one of them has actually told him they have been looking into investing money to build several projects in Turrell. They have told him that a few years ago they actually came into Turrell, mapped out several locations within the city and out side of the city to build some commercial companies but because of another feud the city counsel and the mayor had several years ago before I even went to work for Turrell they stopped looking into the area. He however stated to Jason that they still have several projects in the works that he feels could be put in Turrell because of Turrells location if the city can get their affairs in order.
Jason told me through their conversation this morning he feels this could be a very very promising avenue and that if we were to show them a plan of action that the City is willing to take to make this happen they would be willing to work with us to make this happen.
Jason also told me he made several comments that he has other businesses who do business in Arkansas which are currently located in Memphis and West Memphis who wants to move there operations outside of them two cities because of tax hikes and crime. He however stated that before they would even consider it the City would first have to have in place a full-time police force not dependant upon the county and a Fire Department within the City.
He also made the comments that if we were serious and if I thought I seriously had a chance to get in office and make the commitment/effort to work with them that he believes he could have some things in place to start moving forward with their plans by March of 2011.
SO now in my eyes is the question, do you want to continue on the track Turrell is on and not have nothing or do you want to say enough is enough and we need to build this town up and make it worth something.
