Supreme Court rules for white firefighters

The Supreme Court has ruled that white firefighters in New Haven, Conn., were unfairly denied promotions because of their race, reversing a decision that high court nominee Sonia Sotomayor endorsed as an appeals court judge.

It does not matter where you are in the United States, rulings by the SCOTUS affect you in some way. I believe that what this ruling means to the average citizen is that the Civil Rights Act was meant to give everyone "equal treatment" but cannot be used to give anyone "preferential treatment" because of race or ethnicity.
Hooray for the Supreme Court...they got it right.
