A vegetarian diet can be healthful and so can a diet that includes meat, by making the right choices. God gave Noah permission to eat meat and vegtables.( Genisis 9:3-4) He also told Noah to load 7 of each of the clean beasts, sire and mate, 3 pairs and one left for sacrifice.(Genisis 7:2, 8:20). The clean beasts were to serve as food. I trust God's direction. So, until God says not to eat meat, I am going to enjoy local, naturally raised beef! To each his own, we shouldn't try to force our will on others.

1 As a vegan, I can say unequivocally that I HAVE a life and a happy one at that. PETA is always over the top, that is who they are and what they do, but not every person who is a vegan supports their nonsense. I certainly don't. I do indeed care about the animals involved in "food production" though. The misery that is their lives and the violence involved in their deaths is not something I can, in good conscience, support any longer. If you are refering to the e coli outbreak from 2006, the CDC determined that the probable source was an Angus cattle ranch up the road. Apparently, there were wild pigs on the property and suface water contamination that helped spread the feces to nearby spinach fields. |

Well to my point, it can happen to "fresh" produce as well, expand your horizons and eat a burger.
|
||||
Point taken.:) But, no thank you on the burger. I ate animal products for over 40 years until I opened my eyes to the suffering. My perspective has changed and I will never go back. Expand your horizons and eat some vegan food!:) Have a good evening! |
||||

My apologies. Make that my "perception" has changed.
:) |

I think what you really mean is you were pounding down a big mac, wearing a leather loin cloth, and washing it down with 1/2 gallon of your mommas breast milk. 1/2 gallon each boob. |

I would never go out of my way to tell anyone what to eat, I agree that it would be pointless. People make their own decisions about things in their own time. I don't agree, however, that it must be a "vegans vs non-vegans" issue. We are all adults (I assume) and should be able to have conversations about these issues without pitting ourselves against each other. |

What about the pain and suffering of the plants?
They show some signs of intelligence. Watch a sunflower follow the sun. A tree turns it's leaves over before a storm, etc. When cut they bleed, it's just that their blood is what we call sap. We all eat what was once a living thing. |

maybe my ex will eat some.

I agree that plants are living things, would never try to deny it. Step inside a slaughter plant while an animal is being killed and compare that to vegetables being harvested and I think you might see a difference. Animals are sentinent beings and they suffer and feel pain much as we do. We ALL take life to feed ourselves, that's certainly true. But, instead of eating the animals that ate the plants first, I just skip a step and go straight to the plants. :) |
||||
You're a fruit cake, and thats what you should be eating. Do you cry when you cut the grass? Do you have a panic attack when you eat soup? What do you eat? Last time I checked, plants don't have brains, arteries, spinal cords, or any living organs that would cause them any suffering. What is suffering is your coment. |
