Tulare County will pay $1 million to settle a lawsuit filed by the family of a man who killed himself in the Tulare County jail.

Civil rights law firm Haddad & Sherwin has announced that it has successfully negotiated a $1 million settlement with Tulare County in the jail suicide of 45-year-old Mario Lopez, Jr.

According to the complaint filed on Monday with Tulare County Superior Court, the county alleges that the collective violates the requirements of the county's zoning ordinance, which states that marijuana collectives and cooperatives must be located on land zoned for commercial or manufacturing use within the unincorporated areas of the county.
