The town will get a new public safety director Thursday afternoon, as several from the department retire.

The head of the county's beach advisory panel wants a formal review of the recently completed North Beach restoration before he'll say whether he would again support offsetting erosion with sand from inland mines instead of offshore dredging.

By asking the homeowner association board at Island Club to consider annexing into the town of Indian River Shores, Town Manager Richard Jefferson may gain some needed tax revenue.
