Wary neighbors in the Ider community last Thursday chased down a man they saw sneaking around a local house, kept him from stealing a truck to get away, then detained him until deputies could arrive, according to the DeKalb County Sheriff's Department.

State Troopers said a 21-year-old Caleb Levon Black from Ider was driving a 1997 Ford Taurus when it collided with another vehicle.

One person has died in a fatal accident in DeKalb County. The accident happened just after 7pm Saturday night at the intersection of County Road 146 and Alabama Highway 75.

Sheriff's officials in DeKalb County said managers of the Family Dollar in Ider found someone had broken into the rear of the building when they arrived for work Wednesday morning.

A DeKalb County judge erred when he ordered the owners of a large hog farm not to restock the farm until they developed an acceptable plan to control the odor, according to a ruling last week issued by the Alabama Supreme Court.
