New mayor in Matthews; Liquor vote passes in Union County

Republican Jim Taylor is the new mayor of Matthews . He defeated Jack Davis. Lee Myers, who has held the office for the last 18 years, didn't run for re-election. In Huntersville, Jill Swain beat back a challenge from Brian Sisson to win re-election as mayor.
