Wilkes-Barre's Cherry Blossom Festival returns this weekend
Organizers were forced to cancel the annual event last year, but the festivities are definitely on for this weekend at Kirby Park, said Lore Majikes, special events coordinator for the city of Wilkes-Barre. The festival marks the beginning of spring and the return of warm weather to the Wyoming Valley.

Police: Drunk-driver fought with police, paramedics after crashing van
After a Hughestown man crashed his van into a pole in the city's Minooka section Saturday, he got out of an ambulance transporting him to a city hospital and fought with police officers on the side of Interstate 81 before being taken into custody for a second time, police said.
Dirt Bike and Van Collide on Parsonage Street in Hughestown
The driver of a dirt bike is sent to the hospital after colliding with a van. The accident happened on Parsonage Street in Hughestown, Luzerne County just after 11:30 am.
