Full story: TwinCities.com

The horrors of Oct. 17 did not end for Zachary Christenson that night. Christenson and three friends had cowered terrified in the basement of his Hudson, Wis., home as his drunken father went on a shooting rampage, police say.

People that are diagnosed as being Bi-Polar are in constant danger of committing suicide without proper medication. Without it they talk about it all the time. Left unchecked and after several threats (which really are a call for help) many of them do end up doing it. If you know someone (friend or relative) right now that's talking about suicide, please take it upon yourself before it's to late to get them the help they so desperately need. If you ignore it chances are you'll be attending the funeral of a friend or loved one. You'll be haunted for years for not helping them while knowing you could have. It's a heavy, heavy burden to carry. I'm carrying it now.

Makes you wonder if his dad wasn't in a manic rage at the time of the shooting. It is hereditary. Bipolar sucks. Stay on your meds!!!! With medication people can live normal lives.

One problem with people using bi-polar medication is when they take it, and start feeling better, they feel they need to stop.

Thing is...once you're on it, you can't stop.

Why is this news? It sounds like a family issue - not something to be dragged into the media.

PP - leave the sensationalism out of it.

I agree. Didn't think that making money off their misery was appropriate here, and I felt embarrassed for the family that their laundry was being aired.

Wow. Would somebody in this boy's family please get him some help!! it wasn't his fault that his father made the choices that he did. Zachary looks like a nice young man who just happens to be troubled. Given the right help, prayers and love and support from his family he will do ok.
If I could tell Zachary anything it would be to let him know that he doesn't have any control over anyone else except himself and to not blame himself for other people's choices. Stay close to home and family Zach and give yourself time to heal!
Grace and mercy.

he should blame himself, he quit taking meds, broke into his parents home and dad got mad- rightly so- quit babying this kid, he knows he needs his meds but decides to act stupid and placed alot of people at risk between dad shooting up the place and the high speed chase. What if he killed somebody during the chase, the same people feeling sorry him would be blaming the police

Its called personally responsibility!

Funny you say that. Where are the welfare, stereotypic, system abusing comments we see here when the person pictured is not white?

I'm not saying we should see those comments on a story like this, but it is an interesting phenomena.

EXACTLY what I thought. The more publicity this gets, the more problems that will arise in their family because of it.

Wonderful, there's 2-3 comments here that make sense or offer anything close to understanding or common sense. Kids with computers and keyboard say the dumbest things at the wrong place and times. I can only hope it is kids and not adults.

After listening to the recording, it sounds as if the father and son are totally retarded.

Speaking of Hudson. Aint there a cop there who is a nephew of the chief who got busted recently for stolen stuff? That sure has been pushed under the rug of blue (and no, I don't mean the one that got arrest up in northwest Minnesota last week).

that's overzealous editing you know, "He does probably blame himself for it,(but) not rightly so.", there's nothing wrong with that statement without the 'but', if you really wanted you could've put a semi-colon in place of the comma!:)

Ya good point. Kid doesn't take his meds shoot him and his friends. That'll teach him.
By the way, i think the kid broke into the house days after the dad went shootin the place up.
This is one of the most disgusting comments I have ever read. I am the aunt of one of the other children that were in the house and none of those kids deserved to have to go through such a tramatic incident. Shame on you for your careless words. Please keep the children that were in this mess in your prayers.

You need to go back to school and take World Wide Web 101 all over again. The post you quoted appears to have been done in sarcasm in response to the post he quoted. Go back and read them both again.
