Full story: Lowell Sun

Selectmen chose to sit on the fence on this one. A year after Peter and Joanne Radziewicz paid $12,000 to erect a 10-foot-high privacy fence between their home at 49 Burns Hill Road and Bonnie Lavallee's multifamily house at 51 Burns Hill Road, the Radziewiczes are being fined $275 by the Zoning Board of Appeals for every day that they do not ...

I don't get it. If the two property owners (taxpayers) involved have no problem with it. The other property owners (taxpayers) in the nieborhood have no problem with it. It is not on town land. Were is the problem.

All that was missing from the video was "Directed and Produced by Peter Radziewicz". I mean c'mon, could the camera guy be any more biased in his commentary?

Keep fighting Peter and Joanne! Its a nice fence. Its well built, not an eyesore. This is New Hampshire, LIVE FREE OR DIE. The problem with most zoning board are they are busy bodies minding every one elses business. NH is turning into Massachusetts. If you dont want to live free or die then MOVE THERE!

So then why not put up a house that is 35 stories. Or why not have your house 2 inches from the property line. We are a society of laws. They are put in place for every one to comply with them. If you don't like the zoning laws get the people together and change them.

The town of Hudson is FAMOUS for doing this.
These people went to the town and asked if they could biuld this fence. they were told that they would be notified in two days. They werent notified, and so they put up their structure. And now some busy body wants to control their lives.
I have been hearing complaints about things like this for years. People seek permission or information, and then they have to spend a huge sum to correct what is basically a Hudson officials mistake or oversight.
Remeber the guy in central NH who went into the town clerks office and opened fire? Does anyone NOT understand why that happened?

Good Fences make good neighbors.
He should check out that the new multifamily is in not in violation of any town and state bylaws. I bet they find something

That fence is ugly and looks like a freaking highway sound barrier! LOL! Oh well if the neighbors don't care, why should the town stick their noses into it. Grant the stupid variance.

Remember the guy who opened the car wash on Central street? The town help him up for SIX MONTHS while they flip flopped back and forth with the "Aesthetics committee" about what kind of bushes he had to plant out front. Then after they decided and he complied, they changed their minds and he had to pay to have it all done over again.
And one of the first buildings on Security Drive had a similar issue. they finished the building, and some officious twerp from the town came and gave strict instructions about the parking lot, which were followed. After the paving was done, the same man came and measured and said that the pavement was six inches too wide, and that he would not "sign off" on the project until it was corrected. So they paid to have six inched removed. After wards, another town official came and measured and said that it was six inched to narrow, and the pavement needed to be replaced or an occupancy permit would not be issued.
I dont know what I would have done if that were me, but I guarantee you that it would not have been pleasant, not by a long shot.

Ah yes, the "Aesthetics committee". They gat to decide what PLANTS you will have outside your business. lol
They decide where bushes will go, where flowers will go, and how they will be arranged. And if you do EXACTLY what they direct you to do, and they decide they dont like the results, they have the power to make you do it over at your own expense.
And they wonder why Hudson doesnt attract many businesses. lol
If you give people who dont have any power over their own lives power over other peoples lives, they will almost always abuse it.
Hudson is a great example of that.

The fact is that the town made a mistake by telling the homeowners one thing, then not backing it up. It's the town's fault. The homeowners should not be held liable for this. They followed the directions they were given. Now it has turned into a "I've got more power than you" issue.

The town should come out with a decision that states they made a mistake and therefore the fence can remain. Maybe then the town will pay more attention to the direction they give out on the phone.

All land is town land. The taxes you pay are nothing more than rent. Stop paying and you will be evicted :-)

You would think that that is the case, but the town accepts no responsibility for their mistakes.
You're not dealing with mature adults, you're dealing with people who need to exercise their power over others for their own self gratification.

Daily Horoscope for December 20

Pisces

If you-know-who has been getting on your nerves recently, matters will soon come to a head and force you to take drastic action. As Mars turns tail in your sixth house, you might finally lose your rag with someone at work who's been testing your patience to the limit. Stand your ground if you feel you're being messed about in some way. Clear the air if needs be, but don't create a really nasty atmosphere by throwing an eye-popping tantrum. Take care of any infections.
