Katie Elizabeth Jackson, founder and board president of the Pontotoc County Animal Rescue and Shelter, told The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal that she has received nearly 60 calls about missing pets in the past week.

They are not glamorous community development projects but they will contribute greatly to the quality of life in Houston and Houlka for years to come.

In just the past week, dozens of dogs have been reported missing in the Pontotoc County area.

Former Renasant Bank officer Brad Brown was indicted by a federal grand jury on two counts of child pornography, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

A 22-year-old Chickasaw County man has been arrested and charged with rape and robbery following an incident at a party in Pontotoc on December 10, 2011, reported Pontotoc Police Chief Larry Poole.
