The Tackroom horse, I don't think it is still there. What are the names of this sporting goods store over the years. Diamond Jim's, Rick's and Footes any others?

Man, they sure do need to reopen soon. Only place in town where you can get a gun, a sandwich and a bottle of wild turkey all in one stop.

Yes Diamond Jims is in the same building where The Tack Room Used to be. It is in the same intersection as "The Crossroads Shopping Center" where Raleys is. Across the street from North State Street McDonalds

Last time that place burned down was in the mid 80s. Driving by on early Sat or Sunday morning I saw the first smoke trails leaving the back of Jim's crossing State Street. Sounds like a case for Thomas Hine to make money off of & then make fun of in the UDJ as TWKr. If there were four persons inside when this fire begins; it must've been a pre-fire gun sale!

When the Journal is writing an article they should try to address the following topics:
Who
What
When
Where and
How
This simple rule just about covers it all.

if you want a good article, you need to go to the Santa Rosa Paper, why on Earth would the daily urinal have something extensive about a fire in Ukiah?????
Here's the link for those of you that would like to read about it in another city's newspaper. http://www.pressdemocrat.com/article/20091109... -

For the old timers, before it became Diamond Jims wasn't that where Ukiah Sporting Goods was located, or was that catty cornered across from Harold's Club? I seem to remember a liquor/firearm store located there before Diamond Jim's.

Welokome to Amerika. Buy up businesses with fake monee, pretend like a real fire happened, collect monee and send it back to home country to fight war. Not saying this is the case here, just saying it might happen somewhere in Amerika.

To "guruking" Well I see you didn't finish school, and the owner is very upset about his loss. He is a very nice man who works very hard, you could go there at any point in the day and I bet you he was there.

I bet I know what happened. Was the young moonfaced kid working? You know, the Fat **** lookalike who is interested in everything but doing his job. Yep, the same one who runs his mouth non-stop to his friends instead of helping customers. I bet the poor pile was in a semi-comatose state after eating his fifth Hot Pocket of the morning and was looking for a pick-me-up. So, he pops a sixth Hot Pocket in the microwave and then waddles his way across the street to get a coffee at USA Gas. He loses track of time whilst daydreaming of his prize hog, the microwave is left running, and voila a fire starts.
To funny...Went in there to buy a gun and after talking with him went out town...the guys a joke....

not a huge loss. I remember them being a lot better in the past. went in there on saturday after not having been there for a few years and their firearms selection was piss poor, particularly the pistols. not to mention grossly overpriced. and the people working there were too busy talking to one another to inquire about if I wanted to be helped or not
