House approves 2-cent gas tax hike
The House of Representatives voted to raise the state's gasoline tax by 2 cents per gallon, after beating back attempts by lawmakers to divert big chunks of the new money to the cities and towns for things like pothole repairs, instead of giving it to the much-maligned Rhode Island PublicTransit Authority.
