To the Editor: I am responding to the opinions expressed in a recent letter from Jeff Whelan Jr.

A plan to build a $15 million state-of-the-art pool in DeKalb sunk Tuesday when voters solidly rejected the proposal.

Primary day is in full swing. If you haven't already voted, please get out and do so.

To the Editor: I am writing to urge you to vote yes to approve the referendum for a new pool at Hopkins Park.

The DeKalb Park District is asking voters Feb. 2 to approve bonds totaling $15 million to build a new aquatics center at Hopkins Park.

DeKALB – Though most agreed that a new pool would be nice, residents who attended a special DeKalb Park District meeting on Wednesday night overwhelmingly spoke out that it is unaffordable.

We are a little over three weeks away from the Feb. 2 primary election. If you feel you are fully informed when it comes to knowing the candidates, early voting starts at 8:30 a.m. Monday at the DeKalb County Legislative Center, 200 N. Main St., in Sycamore.

The DeKalb County Community will have an opportunity Tuesday to meet and greet Democratic candidates running for both the upcoming primary and general elections.

DeKALB – Three years' worth of work – community surveys, assessment reports and focus groups – will culminate when voters hit the polls Feb.
