Former Spain Park teacher pleads guilty to having sex with student; placed on probation
A former Spain Park High School teacher was sentenced to probation this morning after pleading guilty to having sex with a student under the age of 19. Stephanie Suggs Millard, 34, of north Shelby County, was sentenced by Shelby County Circuit Court Judge Dan Reeves to 10 years in prison.

Woman fatally shot at Iron Bowl party in Hoover
<![CDATA[HOOVER, Ala. (AP) -- Police in Hoover are investigating a fatal shooting at an Iron Bowl party. Hoover Police Chief Nick Derzis tells al.com a woman in her 30s was shot at the party and was pronounced dead at the scene. Derzis says they didn't immediately know whether the shooting was related to the game. Derzis says there were multiple witnesses to the shooting. An adult female was taken into custody but was not immediately charged. Hoover police said they couldn't release many details early in the investigation.
