A 17 year old is dead after a crash in Homer. The Champaign Coroner's office says Brandon L. Umbarger died at Carle hospital this afternoon.

Brandon Umbarger, 17, was listed in critical condition Saturday afternoon at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana where he was taken following an accident that occurred about 1:30 a.m. Champaign County sheriff's Sgt.

Residents of the Champaign County Village of Homer are afraid plans for a coal mine in the area will impact drinking water and local recreation.

A proposed coal mine has people in Champaign and Vermilion counties concerned. A coal company is negotiating a deal to buy water from the Village of Homer.

Gifford, Homer, Sidney, Dewey, Pesotum and Longview. Those are just a few of the post offices, in Champaign County alone, that would stay open but have their retail hours reduced, under the latest plan from the U-S Postal Service.
