Hinsdale district asks teachers union to drop strike threat

Hinsdale High School District 86 school board members are calling on the teachers union to drop the threat of a strike and allow a vote on the district's latest contract offer. "It's time for the angst and anxiety to dissipate by the union leadership by presenting the district's comprehensive offer, which is more than fair, to its membership and allow a vote on it," school board President Richard Skoda said.

Brookfield Man Sentenced for String of Home Burglaries in DuPage, Cook Counties

A 48-year-old Brookfield man has been sentenced to 16 years in prison for a string of home burglaries that occurred in Cook and DuPage counties, prosecutors said Monday. Paul Major, 48, entered a guilty please Friday for burglarizing a a Glen Ellyn home earlier this year, according to a DuPage County State's Attorney's Office press release.

High school teachers in west suburban Hinsdale have taken a step closer to a possible strike, amid stalled contract talks with Hinsdale Township High School District 86. WBBM Newsradio's Mike Krauser reports the two sides have been negotiating for more than a year, and the teachers' latest proposal was offered to the board on Sunday. On Tuesday, the Hinsdale High School Teachers Association filed a strike notice with the Illinois Educational Labor Relations Board.
