Driver killed when truck hits tree

A Hickory man died Saturday when he drove off the road, hitting a tree. Ryan Evan Parker, 39, was driving west on U.S. 70, SE, at about 12:45 p.m. when he drove past the 1200 block and ran off the road into an empty lot next to the Armstrong Ford dealership, according to police reports.
