Alice Burch knew a mobile home was the worst place to ride out a tornado. So when Greensburg's sirens sounded five years ago to warn of the approaching EF5 tornado, she grabbed her walker and a flashlight, left her mobile home to seek shelter in her neighbor's sturdy basement.

A 15-year-old Haviland boy is dead after a crash in Kiowa County Tuesday. It happened around 10:00 Tuesday about a mile west of Haviland.
