A Carteret County pair was charged over the weekend for stealing property from a home one of the suspects was watching for family members, authorities said.

A weekend dispute in Carteret County landed a man in jail for biting off part of another man's ear, authorities said.

District Attorney Scott Thomas showed jurors how three shells from a pump Mossberg 12-gauge shotgun could be fired, ejected, and re-loaded. "This is how Gary Lamont Hayes shot and killed Odell Foster at the Bayside Restaurant in Havelock April 26th after he fired at him three times," Thomas said.
