A fast-moving storm that hit the state Friday afternoon left thousands of people without power, but no other major problems were reported.

Police are trying to get to the bottom of who is illegally dumping hazardous waste in several Connecticut towns.

State Police expect to make arrests soon after 55-gallon barrels of of hazardous materials were found dumped illegally at several locations in four towns.  The dump sites were found over the weekend in Bristol, Plymouth, Burlington and Harwinton.

Properties in Harwinton , Plymouth , Burlington and Bristol became illegal dumping sites of hazardous materials Friday and Saturday and state police said they are tracking down the assailants.

The fire was so hot it melted the vinyl siding on homes on nearby Cameron St., Torrington Fire Chief John Field said.
