Mr. Elba Tennis Kirk, 79, of Chapmanville, formerly of Harts, was born September 12, 1932, in Lincoln County, a son of the late Muscoe and Sally Workman Kirk.

A variety of colorful rumors surfaced in Lincoln County last week, regarding the cleanliness or not of the May 8 primary election.

There'll be one new face on the Lincoln County Board of Education, when the body gathers for the first meeting of July next.

Senator Art Kirkendoll looks set to be returned to a four-year term as state senator for Lincoln County, after a decisive district-wide win in last week's primary election.

A group of candidates backed by a political action committee scored a number of significant wins on election night last week.

The county's chief elections officer said Tuesday he's concerned about "red flags" in the county, including an incident or two that were "highly visible and not correct." County Clerk Myrl Gue said this year's election may have been the fairest in recent memory, but he's still concerned.

James H. "Jim" Hymes, 70, of Chapmanville, departed this life Saturday, April 28, 2012, at Cornerstone Medical Center in Huntington.

The Lincoln County Commission recently approved an increase in its annual contribution to the county's economic development authority.
