Having the officers on bike patrol is a great way to promote the idea that officers are here to "protect and serve." Saying that though I wish they patrolled during the day but with our type of community it really is better to have them on "stealth patrol" at night.
Thanks for all you do!

Thank you so much Hanover Police Department for volunteering your time to such a successful and necessary program. Many big thanks to Simplicity Bicycles and Gates & Gates. We don't want or need the low-life infection that Baltimore and York escapees allow to fester here. Yeh, Hanover was once a beautiful little town to escape to when you have problems elsewhere, but have you ever noticed what follows behind you? The same problems you tried to get away from crime, drugs, and lack of respect for anyone and anything. Baltimore Street, York Street, and the alleys tell it all. Semper Fi!

Dah...and where were you? Why would you let someone do that and get away with it?

I think they were still on duty and getting paid. Hard to say though the way the article is written.

From an email I sent my sister very early one Thursday morning a year ago in July:

"Ever been scared to death by a COP???!!

I just took the trash out. First I carried the bag from the kitchen out to the light pole in the alley, with a flashlight in my other hand 'cause I don't have good night vision without my glasses.

Then I walked back towards the gate, to grab the trash can with the two older bags in it, to wheel it to the light pole so I could put the third bag on top. What's that, SECONDS???

In that little bit of time, very SILENTLY a sneaky cop on a BICYCLE had come up the alley, heard me and stopped to check it out. I didn't even see him until I was almost at the pole, draggin' the can.

There was NOTHING showing - like reflectors or anything - that showed he was a policeman. So I stopped dead. That's when he said he was a cop. I said, "You scared me half to death!!"

Then I said something about, "you guys are on BICYCLES at this time of night?" He said, "yeah, that's when we all come out!" All I could think of was vampires, but I kept my mouth shut and just wished him a good night.

Geez, my pulse is still jumping!!"

To this day I still think an apology for scaring me would have been a nice touch, but maybe I scared the cop too, and I didn't exactly apologize either.:)

I, for one, am pleased that the Borough has implimented the "bike patrol". Over the years, there have been many instances of vandalism in my neighborhood...some personally. If these officers are "sneaking" around, GOOD FOR THEM and GOOD FOR US. Perhaps next time they can prevent someone from throwing a rock through my window, or my son's car window being smashed with a baseball bat, or a bicycle being stolen from my yard...all done under the cover of darkness. If they take the time to ride through the Myers Arboretum, any time of the day, perhaps they could curtail the drug traffic that occurs there...especially now that the warm wheather is here.

I wish they would do this in New Oxford as well. But most of our cops are heavy set and not in shape to even do that. All they do is put those cars around with the dummy in them which are white white so we all know their fake lol

Do you get your mail everyday? Do you see the mailman come and go? Don't blame the cops for not being there in front of your house 24/7!

Daily Horoscope for December 30

Capricorn

Get together with someone you respect and admire because you'll really enjoy their company. The conversation could soon turn to highly personal areas, yet there won't be any hesitation in talking straight from the heart. At some point you'll be in the mood to think about your New Year resolutions. Maybe you should write them in next year's diary so you can keep referring to them.
