To symbolize that the Saunders Bros. dowel and wood products plant in the Locke Mills village of Greenwood now makes 100 percent, American-made products, a large wood-carved bald eagle adorns a handle on the giant rolling pin displayed in the yard beside Route 26.

After 100 years, the scrappy little town in the middle of the North Woods is reassessing the way it sees itself-and the way it wants to be seen.
