Raising more than $60K toward cancer research from this year's Relay For Life event is ample reason to celebrate - and that's exactly what Pender County Relay For Life teams did on Tuesday, May 22 during their annual Relay Wrap Up celebration and awards ceremony at the Carolina Cafe in Hampstead.

The runners set off to carry the Special Olympics Flame of Hope from the Wilmington Police Department to the Pender County line, where they handed it off to another team.

Voters nominated Republican candidate Chris Millis for the N.C. House 16 seat at the polls Tuesday, and, with no Democratic opposition, virtually guaranteed his election in the fall.

All three have never served as an elected official, all three believe in strong conservative values and all three think the economy is the fundamental issue facing the General Assembly.

The Wrightsville Beach Parks and Recreation Foundation held the third annual Eat Healthy, Eat Local 5k and 10k on Saturday, April 28, to benefit the Wrightsville Beach Farmers' Market.
