Prosecutor Assigned to Lawyer's Case

To avoid the appearance of a conflict of interest within the Kane County state's attorney's office, an Illinois appellate prosecutor has been assigned to the criminal case against William C. Chesbrough, the local lawyer charged last month with bilking two area residents out of $140,000, Kane County State's Attorney John Barsanti said.

Police Report: Two hurt in Hampshire crash

Capt. Trevor Herrmann of the Hampshire Fire Protection District said the victims had to be extricated from the wrecked vehicles but that their injuries appeared to be non-life-threatening. Details were unavailable Monday afternoon from the village police department.

Paths to street names differed

We explained recently how Hampshire officials in the 1960s or 1970s got very logical and organized about naming streets, even if the village has pretty much ignored that system except in the original grid-shaped "old village." For example, all east-west thoroughfares were to be called avenues, and all north-south ones were to be called streets.
