A man in Madison County fatally shot himself earlier this week after state agents seized his liquor store for unpaid back taxes.

According to Sgt. Worthley with the Hamilton Police Department, New York State Tax and Finance requested an officer as standard procedure with a business seizure around 11:15 a.m. Wednesday at Cook's Liquor Store, 53 Utica St. Tax officials and the officer entered the business, which was seized for unpaid back taxes.
