Unusual town names on the decline
A North Carolina historian said U.S. towns with unusual names, such as Grubville, Mo., and Battiest, Okla., are slowly disappearing.

The names read like a town team batting order:Fletcher, Harwood, Roscoe, Clyde, Burdett and hitting sixth — Elmer.But they are small towns in Missouri and Kansas that may lose their post offices, part of a hit list of nearly 3,700 across the country released Tuesday.
