So if he spray paints the walls and breaks windows there, is he on the clock when he cleans it up?

If he is trying to straighten out his life, why persecute him like this?

I agree. The kid made a poor decision. Making this a front page story should not be part of his penalty.

So...once a kid gets into trouble...the parents should just turn their backs on him and not try to help?

Doesn't look like Daddy is getting him out of trouble, looks like Daddy is making him work so he can pay back on the damages. He still has to go before the judge! This isn't worth the headlines.

Just fire him and yes it does need to be front page ! educate--Do not protect !!! He screwed up, he pays the price. These kids have to be made aware that what they do in life good, bad, or indifferent--will follow then the rest of their lives !!!!!

The issue here has nothing directly to do with the boy. It has to do with the abuse of power shown by his Dad.

This is just plain ridiculous..hiring someone who vandalized their own school...I don't care if it is just mowing lawns. I am sure there were plenty of other kids that could do this job...ones that have no record. Helman should have dug a little deeper before hiring someone like this. This just goes to show do some damage and you can go get a job.

I certainly hope that he and the others involved in the vandalism have to make restitution for the damages they created. And I certainly hope that mom and dad stand tough and don't pick up the tab for him. If he's working for the FCCTC let his wages be garnished to pay for the repairs. It can be a valuable lesson.

So Daddy hand delivered his son's job application to the JOC over which he presides. Isn't that just too transparent for words? Disgusting and an abuse of power, to say the very least!!!!!!!!

This not the first time the boy has been in trouble. Is this why the father is on committees. To benefit his kids? First on school board where his son went to school. President of JOC and hand delivers his son's application. Maybe his son should take responsibility for his actions.

Do NOT re-elect him to school board. He's unqualified, and obviously cool with shady dealings by showing nepotism in getting his son a job. What a joke of a family. The Shindles.....an example of what's wrong with the American Family.

The story here is not what the 18 year old is charged with doing. It is what his Daddy apparently did with his public position and money.
Isn't Daddy running for re-election ??

I totally agree. That boy can't think, so he must be made to feel...without his father bailing him out!

He wasn't hired by the school he vandalized - BUT He should be cleaning up Greencastle for nothing!!!! That would save the school district money and possibly teach the kid a lesson.

Couple points -- First, look at the time line. Although the vandalism occurred May 22 and Seth was hired May 28, not until June 3 was it determined by anyone ... presumably including his dad ... that he had committed the vandalism and was arrested.
But that said, Mike's hand-delivering his son's application to the board he presides over certainly does smack of nepotism. And as others have said, there are plenty of kids without Seth's record that would have been more appropriate hires.
The whole thing is sad.

Daily Horoscope for November 16

Taurus

Today's New Moon gives you a chance to improve your relationships, but beware of people who are deceiving you. Someone you trust may have proverbial feet of clay, so try not to be too disappointed. If you enter each new relationship with your eyes wide open, you can avoid the disillusionment that comes with wishful thinking.
