A man and two women have been arrested on theft charges in the embezzlement of more than $200,000 from a local trucking company, said Jefferson County chief Deputy Randy Christian.

So far, seven people have been slain in Jefferson County in 2009, down from 13 last year.

Five western area Jefferson County schools will close at noon today because of a water main break along U.S. 78, officials said.
