NATO protesters are marching in downtown Chicago from Grant Park to McCormick Place, where world leaders are in their first day of meetings.

A South Holland man who pleaded guilty to federal charges for a January 2010 robbery at a Grant Park gas station was sentenced this week to 35 years in federal prison.

The statewide average temperature for April was 54.1 degrees, which is about 1 degree cooler than the record-breaking March temperature of 55, according to Jim Angel, state climatologist for the Illinois State Water Survey.

They walked out to applause, each and every one of them. Some served in the Korean War or World War II, others during peace time.
