The fires are TOTALLY within the Roosevelt National Forest.
There are TWO separate forests, jointly managed. The Arapaho Nat'l Forest is WEST of the continental divide. East of the divide, in Larimer and Boulder counties, there is only the Roosevelt Nat'l Forest, and the Canyon Lakes district is totally within the Roosevelt Nat'l FOrestRocky Mountains Cooperative Ecosystems Studies Unit (RM-CESU) Student Award. One would think that reporters of the local newspaper would know that. But then, it's not really a local paper anymore, is it? Geography matters! |
